The English language has taken amazing and amusing twists and turns in its pathway to importance on the world stage.  This class will uncover how English, a language with an unpretentious beginning on a small Atlantic Isle, became so popular in a short time frame.  From its unrecognizable beginnings in the eighth century, to its erudition in the eighteenth century, to its current status as lingua franca, English has emerged as the “pop” language.
